Q: I want to execute an XUpdate with the Java Admin client. Entering the query into the query dialog doesn't work. How do I do it?

A: XUpdates are not XQueries! The XQuery interface will not complain if it receives an XUpdate statement (which is well-formed XML and thus a valid XQuery). It just echoes the XML. To actually perform the update, you have to pass it to the XUpdate processor.

You can specify an XUpdate file on the command line:

bin/client.sh -c /db/test -X xupdate.xml
